WOMEN IN GOLF Download registration flyer for Shootout September 28-30, 2007 The Spear Golf Club Women in Golf program originated through the Western States Golf Association Women in Golf program. WSGA has a General Chairperson, and each area of WSGA has a representative. Spear is represented by the Northern California Area Rep, Edna Buckley of Spear. The goal of the program is to provide training, support and golf play for women at all levels. Clinics are held to teach the fundamentals of golf and the rules of golf. In addition, ladies are prepared for competitive play in club tournaments, and in other events. One highlight of the Women in Golf program is the annual North/South Shootout, held each year in October, featuring friendly competition with the women in WSGA. The 16th annual North/South Shootout was held at the Pacific Palms Conference Resort in the City of Industry on October 6-7, 2006. The shootout was hosted by the Southern Ladies, with women participating from California, Nevada, Arizona and Colorado. The ladies played the Babe course at Industry Hills, located onsite at the Pacific Palms Resort. The format was ‘match play’, and there were nineteen matches between Northern Ladies and Southern Ladies. Even though the course played tough, there were some good scores posted and some close matches. However, the South did prevail this year, beating the North 11-1/2 to 7-1/2. Congratulations to the Southern Ladies!!! The 2007 Shootout is being hosted by the Northern Ladies in Phoenix Arizona September 28-30 at Stone Creek Golf Course Course.
